Express your concerns and bring these issues to the forefront. Letters are among the most widely read features of newspapers and can reach a large audience. They often influence the topics local papers may choose to cover. Elected officials often monitor these letters and take notice of constituents' opinions. For a letter to be published, include your name, address, and daytime phone (for verification only). Keep your letter brief and make it timely — if you are not addressing a specific article or editorial that recently appeared in the paper you are writing to, then try to tie the issue you want to write about to a recent event.
